Does your child want a pet? Every child at some point in their lives asks their parents for an animal of sorts to play with and have as a companion. While having a pet does hold great responsibility, children thrive on having animals around their homes. In fact, children with pets are often more healthy since they take part in walking pets, caring for the pets, and in routines with their animals. Children with pets also maintain a better demeanor and are less likely to become depressed because they have a natural bond with their animal.

Just picture your first pet. Did you get to adopt an animal from a shelter? Did you purchase your very own pet from a breeder, or did you go to a pet store with your heart racing at the prospect of picking out your very own pet? Or maybe you looked up your countless of options in ebayclassifieds?

This is how children’s react as well. Children can be responsible. They can have specific roles that are required as owners of the pet. Based on the ages of children, they might even be solely responsible for the care of a pet (depending on what type of pet it is, of course). Children actually cherish having something to be responsible for. They can help clean up after pets, walk them, bathe them, feed them, and provide any other care necessary for a pet. They can play with the pet and cuddle it, enjoying the presence of the addition to the family.

Really, the only reason to not have a pet would be financial burden or allergies. What kind of pet is your child yearning?

Pets are more than those four-legged furry critters that curl up in your lap while you watch television or sleep religiously at the foot of the bed. They are family. By caring for your pet, you open yourself to a unique relationship for years to come. You also open yourself to a list of benefits to your well-being. Here are three ways your pet makes life better.

They boost your mood. When you come home from a stressful day, you can always count on your animal companion to be happy to see you. After spending a few minutes petting them, the day begins to melt. Studies show that 15-20 minutes of cuddling your pet greatly shifts your mood to the positive. Watching fish swim gives the same effect.

They calm your body. Cortisol is a hormone the body makes in times of stress. Spending quality time with your pet lowers levels of cortisol, while increasing serotonin, helping you feel calm and relaxed. The Center for Disease Control found that people with dogs have lower blood pressure. The same with those who adopt a cat. Over time, high blood pressure damages arteries, bringing on harmful conditions such as atherosclerosis and even a stroke.

They help you heal. Pet owners are less likely to be depressed. Elderly Alzheimer’s patients have fewer episodes when a pet is around. Heart patients with pets heal quicker than those who don’t have a pet. Pet therapy shows that patients who receive a visit from an animal while in the hospital experience measurable psychological benefits.

Service dogs are most often Labrador or golden retrievers. This breed is chosen because of the temperament and intelligence that is common among dogs of this breed.

However, Labrador and golden retrievers are prone to a condition known as hip dysplasia. This condition can be very mild, resulting only in slight pain or stiffness, or it can be very serious, to the point that the dog will eventually be unable to walk and may even suffer from frequent episodes of hip bone displacement—a condition in which the bone falls either partially or completely out of the socket. A search of “hip dysplasia” through Canada 411 can provide you with more information on this health problem.

If you are considering adopting a Labrador or golden retriever as a service dog, you first want to look for a reputable service dog handling and training business. Once you’ve found a business that you think can help you, you can then ask the staff members to let you see the “hip scores” for the dogs they have available. These are numerical scores assigned to Labrador and golden retrievers, based on veterinarian examination that determines the risk for hip dysplasia.

If you want to be extra sure that you are adopting a service dog that is in good health, ask to see the hip scores of the dog’s parents. This is a genetic condition, and the risk can be higher even if only one parent had the tendency to hip dysplasia.

The health of a pet is highly predicated on its diet, but even more so on how much exercise it gets. Like humans, pets need daily physical activity to help keep them in shape. And like all other needs of a pet, it is the owners responsibility to ensure their pet is exercising enough. Dogs for example need not only walks, but time spent running whether while playing fetch or chasing other dogs. Owners also have to manage the exercise routine for their indoors pets. Cats can easily get a workout chasing string or balls, while a wheel inside a cage can help get a hamster in shape.

The most important benefit from pet exercise is good physical health. The majority of pet foods are high in carbohydrates which can cause the build up of fats in animals. Exercise keeps those affects to a minimum. And like their owners pets that partake in ample exercise have significantly stronger hearts. Not to mention active animals suffer from less diseases.

However, exercise also has many mental benefits for pets. Due to the lack physical activity, pets become more hyper and are more likely to last at other pets, and even humans. Exercise lets pets release all of their energy, giving them a calmer demeanor. And when pets are calmer they are easier to train, which means some mental benefits for the owners, too. With the right amount of exercise owners can enjoy the company of their best furry friends for many long healthy years.

Nowadays human being are loosing their ethics and become selfish, they became heartless and feeling less. In this era now animals are called to be as most reliable creature on earth, animals maintains their nature, honesty, warms, selfless behavior.

A small child easily affectionate towards animals, they find a friend in the pets to play. An old age person also feel that the pet can fill their loneliness, sometimes talk to them and frequently pet become the most reliable and loving member of the family.

The care of pets is more important aspect which owner has to take care especially hygiene of the dogs on daily basis. Children used to play with them, they carry dogs or other pets from hands, they sit with them on sofa, bed and they roam around many place of the house, so there are much chances or risk to spread their disease. The dog’s hair used to carry some very small insects which in fact are not visible, and they have tendency to increase if you don’t care for your dog, these insects are more harmful for children. The Pets need to have daily bath with soap, have clean and clear place to sit, their place where they live should be clean and hygiene.

Dogs feed is also need to keep in mind timely, care for pets is more important as they don’t have long life but if general care is also neglected then their age will become too short. There are many clinics have opened up for the animal check-up where they can have regular check-up and remain fit and healthy to be a part of your family for long. These are animal ethics.

Reproduction is a natural phenomenon to increase the population of species. Reproduction is species specific. Unlike humans, animals have specific breeding time. Oestrous cycle is an example. Each species have specific breeding habits. There may be fights among the males. These are meant to identify the strong gene pool. Only that one with a good gene pool is eligible for breeding. But in the case of pets, they are restricted inside the house hold.

In the case of breeding the pets, you are selecting the traits and qualities of the next generation. Collect information about the breeding season, habit, gestation period and all the related things about the particular species of your pet. Firstly, you have to decide the breed of the other partner. Always have an eye on the market value of the desired variety. The mating pairs should be healthy. Check whether the other partner is a pure breed or not.

Make sure it is healthy and is devoid of infections. Choose it from a hygienic pet store. Take the help of a good veterinary doctor. You can select the desired trait and go for a selective breeding. Inbreeding, out crossing and line breeding are some breeding techniques used in animal breeding. There are cross breeding and mixed breeding. Cross breeding is a breeding process in which two pure breeds undergo breeding. In mixed breed, there is mix of several breeds.

Usually the animals for breeding will be selected and maintained separately in the breeding centers to ensure superior quality. It should be made sure that you are selecting same species for breeding your pets. Usually they will not be able to mate if they belong to two different species.

Pets are an important part of our life. But they should be maintained properly to avoid getting infected with fatal diseases. Petting should not be done carelessly. Pets should be taken for thorough check-ups periodically. Proper vaccinations should be given. Plague, Japan Flu, Anthrax, Bird Flu and various allergies can be caused by pets. Most dangerous and fearsome disease is Rabies. Dogs, cats and monkeys can be infected by the virus. It spreads through the saliva of the infected animal. It affects the brain.

Anti rabies vaccines are available in veterinary hospitals. It is better to keep your kid away from pets. The hairs of dogs and cat can cause allergic reactions. Dogs can cause Visceral Larvae Migraines. Toxocara canis is a helminth parasite in dogs. Similarly, Toxocara catis is a helminth parasite in catis. These when reaches human body, causes dangerous diseases. Cats can cause Toxoplasmosis in pregnant ladies. Always keep the bird nests away from the house. Bird Flu is a threat to pet birds.

Anthrax can occur in all animals. Inhaling contaminated air may cause toxemia. The fecal matter of infected animals may contain Round worms or Flat worms. Eggs of these parasites may occur in other body parts of the pet animal. When you cuddle your pet, you may get infected. So it is always important to keep your pet clean. Tick –borne disease is common among pets. Periodical removal of tics should be done. Ticks are vectors of many diseases. Various tick removing lotions and medicines are available. It is better to keep cats inside the house.

This reduces the chances to get infected. Providing toys is a good method to monitor whether your cat is active.

Cats are lovely group of animals. They are commonly domesticated as pets all around the world. They are very much playful. They are easy to handle due to their small size and cuddly nature. It is the most popular pet all around the world. Cats are found in almost all parts of the world. It is a fact that they have not undergone much change in their original wild behavior even though they are domesticated by humans from times immemorial. They are good in hunting household pests and rats. They have sharp night vision.

They can detect sounds of a broad range of frequencies. Their sense of smell is great. Domesticating cats are not expensive although they need the basic facilities like food and shelter. The average life span of a cat is 12-15 years. They may live up to 20-30 years also. Select a good breed if you are planning to domesticate a cat. Pedigree (pure breed) and non pedigree (non pure breed) cats are available. You can choose what type of breed you want.

No matter from where you bought it, it is good to take it to a veterinary doctor to make sure that it is having a good health. Feeding a cat is not a big task. Dry and semi liquid tinned foods are available in the market. You can also feed them with household food. Cats cannot identify sweet taste. They usually respond to bitter and acidic tastes. Cats can be fed with milk in its early ages. As they grow, they may experience some problems with their capacity to digest Lactose. In such cases, they may suffer from diarrhoea when ever fed with milk.

There may be a competition if you domesticate other pets in your house. Competitions may occur between the other cats. You should always care about the cleanliness of your car.

Getting ready for a new pet undeniably takes on a number of elements. It is not only important to buy things that your pet will need, such as a bed, food, toys, and other supplies, but to take a look at other objects in your home. If you don’t want objects in your home to get ruined, you must pet proof your home.

Cats and dogs are mobile pets that can do some damage if they want. Highly curious and especially applicable to younger animals, animals can wreak havoc if they find something particularly entertaining or tempting.

As a result, some pet owners come home to the unexpected. Ruined poker tables, broken glass vases, and damaged furniture can be seen due to one’s pets. Thus, any pet owner must take steps to make sure that his or her pet is not able to do too much damage.

Protect your objects proactively whenever possible. A plastic cover for your poker tables, for instance, is a simple and ineffective way to protect a quality investment. Placing objects out of reach, such as a glass vase, is another helpful way to safeguard valuables and those that can become dangerous to the pet.

Remember that in time, and with some training perhaps, your new pet will settle down. In many cases this curiosity will pass over time, and you will become aware of any tendencies from your pet that can be easily prevented.

Owning a pet indeed involves a lot of responsibility. Prepare your new home as well as other areas of your life, for a new pet to make the transition easier. Make sure you take every precaution possible to pet proof your home for the good of you and your pet. Simple steps are what it takes to take care of pet proofing your home.

Many people know just how harmful addiction can be. The stories of the lives touched and tortured by addiction are endless. There are letters written to family members in treatment by loved ones who have had to suffer through their addiction. However, there is a whole other segment that is affected by addiction in profound ways, and yet they are never heard from or heard about. They are the true silent majority in the casualties of addiction; they are pets.

Pets are supposed to be honored and honorary members of the family, but more often than not they are the first living beings to suffer when their owner is incompetent, and they are the ones that suffer the most because they don’t have a voice. When their owner finds themselves in the throws of their addiction they can barely care for themselves and thus caring for a pet is the last thing on their mind. Of course, if there isn’t another responsible adult or even child around to make sure that they are being taken care of, the pet could find themselves in harms way.

Pets that are not cared for are prone to suffer from malnutrition and are subject to being abandoned. These pets are often left alone for days at a time without food or water, and are often left out in the cold. If you are aware of someone who is suffering with addiction, and has a pet, it is vitally important that you nip the situation right in the bud. The owner needs to surrender their pet to someone else who can care for it until they have their addiction under control, or they need to find a rehab facility through a website like Rehab-International.org that is welcoming not just of them, but of their pet as well. Finding help for an addict is always a top priority, but finding help for an addict with a pet is of monumental importance.

Article Content:

This Halloween, include your dog in all the fun! After all, your furry friend is part of the family, isn’t he? Just like you’d never leave one of the kids out of the festivities, there’s absolutely no reason that your pup can’t have a great time, too. Here are a few ways to include your doggy in some family fun, and where you can shop pet costumes for your four-legged friend:

Costumes

From simple headbands to full outfits, you can order virtually any kind of ensemble from the wide range of pet costumes available today. Just picture it! Wouldn’t your dog look cute as a button costumed like a pirate, a cowboy, or a princess? If that doesn’t fit, you can choose from options that are just a little bit scarier! Why not dress the kids and the dog to match?

Trick-or-Treating

When you take the kids on their neighborhood trick-or-treating rounds, don’t forget your pet! As everyone fusses over him, your dog will revel in the attention created by his special holiday outfit. As a precaution, use a leash, apply reflective tape to your pet’s costume, and don’t give him any candy! While sugar is bad for dogs, chocolate can be toxic. Instead, stop by the pet store and get some pet-friendly treats. They’ll have carob-chip cookies and other goodies wrapped up just like the real thing.

Answering the Door

If your dog is well behaved, let him greet the trick-or-treaters that come to your door! Of course, you or another family member should accompany him each time. Some kids absolutely love dogs in pet costumes, but a few might be a little intimidated by your sweet puppy. One thing is for sure, the vast majority of people who come to your door will be pleasantly surprised by who’s in charge of the treats.

With a cute costume and some tasty treats, your whole family will have more fun when even the family pet gets into the true spirit of Halloween!

Having a pet is an entertainment and a tension relieving thing. The playful and adorable nature of the pets attracts everyone. But maintaining your pet healthy and disease free is also equally important as enjoying the playful moments with them. Pets should be provided with a balanced diet. It should contain protein, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals in adequate quantity. The composition of food is different for different animals. For example, cats should be provided with a high protein and low carbohydrate diet.

Adequate amount of water should be given from time to time. The food trays should be kept clean. Mild detergents can be used for this purpose. Train them to have food at fixed places to avoid spillage. Some people advocate for raw-feeding. This has some advantages and disadvantages. Animals enjoy raw feeding because it is their natural way of feeding. The advantage of raw food is that it is rich in nutrients. It is the natural form of diet. But there is always a threat of infections in raw food. Threat of Zoonotic disease is there.

Many of the pet diseases are transmitted through raw meat. Processed foods are also available in the market. They are specific for each animal. A disadvantage of this type of food is that it may stick on to the teeth and this will lead to the infection in the teeth and gums. But dry foods are believed to strengthen the jaws of the animal. It also helps in removing the plaque. Dry food will not get spoiled easily. Pets should not be over fed. Always try to give the optimum quantity of food.
The quantity of food should be based on the age and weight of the animal. A veterinary doctor can help you in this. Pet animals should not be fed with chocolates or coca. This may be toxic to them and may cause digestive problems.

Deficiencies of certain components can be identified from the body language of the animals. For example, if a dog eats stones, that indicates deficiency of calcium. A healthy body can resist diseases.

Birds are active, colourful and attractive with lovely chirping sound. From times immemorial, petting birds were common. In early days, birds were used as a help in hunting and fishing. Eagles were used in hunting. In China, even now, sea birds and other aquatic birds are used for fishing. Pigeons were popular messengers. There are a wide variety of different species of colourful lovely birds in our world. But all species of birds are not suitable to domesticate. Only some selected species can be kept under human care.

This is because of the peculiar feeding, nesting and other habits. Some birds feed exclusively on nectar, while some others feed on some wild grains. They cannot survive on the feed that we provide for them. Nesting is an important thing for birds. Difference in all these will affect their lifestyle. Birds are very much sensitive to climatic changes. A lot of species migrate through long distances to reach their optimal climate.

These kinds of birds are also not suitable for petting. Birds entertain us with their chirping sounds and colourful body. It is important to study about the feeding and nesting habits of the bird which you select as your pet. Also check its optimal climatic conditions. Always choose active birds. Select the birds with shiny sleek feathers. Take it to a veterinary doctor to make sure it is healthy and is devoid of diseases. Petting some species of birds is illegal.

You may be penalized if you pet such species. Do a thorough research about the market value of the birds to avoid getting cheated. It is better to avoid imported birds as the climatic change may affect them. They may be smuggled from other countries. Birds should be provided with a proper balanced diet. The diet should have a combination of fruits, nuts, vegetables and grains. The mode of excretion requires less water. These contribute to their lee consumption of water. It does not mean that they do not require water. Small bowl of water should be provided in the nest. Proper cleaning should be done periodically.

Service dogs are dogs that are specifically trained to help children and adults with disabilities. Most service dogs are provided to the deaf, blind and paralyzed and allow them to complete everyday tasks; that at one time would have required the assistance from another human being. According to the Canine Companions for Independence website, service dogs can do a number of different activities that includ, but are not limited to pushing elevator buttons, turn lights on and off, pick up dropped objects and even assist with everyday business transactions one might encounter. Service dogs also provide companionship and security to disabled individuals, that at one time may have been scared to do certain things unti their friendly pooch came along.

Service dogs are trained, depending on the disability, and are taught on average 40 commands. When the dogs have passed the training phase and are ready to be paired with a disabled recipient – recipients are then asked to come to the training facility to train with the dog as well. Allowing the dogs and disabled individuals to train and learn each other together allows for a better bond and commitment to each other, and makes it easier to understand the attitudes and mannerisms of both the service dog and the individual the dog is paired with.

Service dogs are a great asset to any community and provides protection and a watchful eye on an individual that needed the assistance in order to lead a more rewarding and productive life, in both disabled communities and non-disabled communities. These dogs keep a watchful eye and make sure no one takes advantage or harms the individual they are paired with. A disabled individual may not be able to protect themselves, but a service dog, specifically trained for that individual can keep them out of harms way.

There are a variety of different methods for training service dogs and most potential service dogs do not begin training until about 12 to 15 months old. Classes and training for service dogs can last anywhere from six months to one year, and depends on the organization training each dog.

During the first several week of service dog training; the dogs are placed through a number of different medical screenings. THe dog’s temperment is meassured and blood and medical tests are preformed that include X-rays to make sure the dog suffers from no life threatening genetic deffects that may make him/her untrainable. Many dogs are let go from the training program because they do not pass certain areas of these important medical tests.

The first half of the training program with service dogs focuses on teaching basic commands. The dogs will also begin working with wheel chairs, and focus on retrieving items a person confined to a wheel chair may need. If a service dog passes the first half of the training program they will be able to continue with the most important part of the program.

The second part of a training dog program usually involves building and adding to the commands that were learned during the first half of the course. Once a potential service dog make it through this, they are paired with a disabled individual called “team training”, where both the dogs and their recipients are trained on how to work and accomplish things together for the last couple of weeks of a training session.

Upon proper completion of all three aspects of training a dog graduates and is considered a service dog for the rest of his life. Many service dog recipients continually add new commands to their dogs repitoir by visiting workshops and seminars that a service dog trainer may provide throughout the years of a service dogs life.

Service dogs are bred from two different species of dogs, Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers and are sometimes mixed between the two. These two breeds are very smart as well as protective of their owners. Most Labrador and Golden Retrievers that are bred to produce service dog puppies are, or were once, service dogs themselves. Organizations and service dog recipients that wish to breed their dogs can travel to very far places in order to find a male or female that meets the qualifications needed for breeding.

When the puppies come along they are raised from birth to several weeks old and if a breeder is unable to handle all the puppies, the puppies are placed in temporary household until they are 12 to 15 months of age. The temporary households these puppies are placed in are well screened volunteers that offer to take on all responisibilities of these puppies until they are old enough to start a service dog training course. Volunteers usually begin teaching the puppies basic commands, so that the puppies have a foundation to build on for the numerous commands they will be tought throughout the rigorous training programs to be considered a service dog.

To enter various training programs to be considered a service dog, these puppies are put through numerous medical and temperment evaluations to ensure they will be the best for not only the program, but for a possible recipient. Many puppies even though they come from excellent bloodlines and parents do not make it past the medical evaluations phase. If a puupy passes the rigorus medical and temperment evaluations, they are placed in the beginning phase of training.

Much like being in school, these dogs are tested in a number of different ways and can’t complete the entire program unless they pass each portion or class of the program that lasts about 3 months.

Service dogs in general assist people with disabilities or special needs and help them function in a normal society. There are three different types of service dogs:hearing dogs, facility dogs and skilled companion dogs. These dogs are used in a number of different settings and which dog is assigned to someone needing assistance varies by what will best suit their needs.

Hearing dogs are Laborador or Golden retrievers that are very carefully bred and raised to assist those with hearing impairment. Hearing dogs will nidge or bump a deaf person to alert their owners of something inparticular. These hearing dogs can alert a hearing impaired individual of incomming email messages, alarms, doorbells, and a person approaching. These dogs are trained with the recipient to fit the recipients everyday needs, so alerting an individual will vary from dog to dog, depending on what they were trained for.

Facility dogs are specifically trained to interact with different people in a public setting. These dogs can be found in places such as hospitals, schools, and other facilities providing rehabilitative services to special needs children and adults in a number of different enviroments. Facility dogs give love and undivided attention to each individual person they interact with, making them the ultimate companion dogs. Hospitals frequently use these dogs to calm children with critical illnesess a sense of ease.

Skilled companion dogs are trained to help disabled recipients, children and adults, reach and do things they normally can’t do. These dogs can retrieve dropped items, turn on and off light switches, and ring a doorbell. Just as hearing dogs are trained to do the things that are owner specific so are these dogs. These dogs help individuals feel more self sufficient, allowing them to do more on their own with the help of their new furry companion.
